The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities has announced that Shreveport author and illustrator William Joyce has been chosen to receive its 2017 Humanist of the Year Award. The award, in partnership with Entergy Louisiana and Lieutenant Billy Nungesser, is given annually by the state’s humanities council to recognize the individuals or organizations making invaluable contributions to the culture of Louisiana.

Joyce has achieved worldwide fame as an author, illustrator and pioneer in the digital and animation industry. He co-founded Moonbot Studios, a multimedia company whose books, apps and films have won numerous awards, including an Oscar in 2012 for Best Animated Short.

The LEH Bright Lights Awards Dinner, honoring Joyce and others, will be held April 13 at the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge. For more information, including how to purchase tickets to the event, JUST CLICK HERE!
