Shreveport Teen Gunned Down in City Park
Another Shreveport teenager has died in a violent attack. This latest murder happened at the Anderson Island Park on Wendy Lane in east Shreveport just before 2pm on Monday.
The shooting happened on the basketball court at the park. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office has released the name of the man who died in the shooting. He was 19-year-old Taurean Coleman of Shreveport.
Detectives believe he was shot at least five times in his upper body. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by EMS crews who performed life-saving measures.
Sgt. Angie Willhite says witnesses told officers they saw several men run from the park shortly after the shooting. Two of the suspects jumped into a white sedan and sped off. One of the men was wearing a blue jacket and the other a red jacket.
Detectives are urging residents to check camera footage to see if you my have any information that could be helpful to police.
The murder of this teenager comes just a few days after Huntington High School basketball player Devin Myers was gunned down near his home in Queensborough. Myers was just 17.
This is the 14th homicide of the year in Shreveport. We were at this same number last year which was a record breaking year for murders in this community.
