Shreveport School Celebrates Black History With ‘Living Museum’

The amazing kids and staff at Oak Park Micro-Society Elementary School in Shreveport put on a fantastic living wax museum for Black History Month! Some local familiar faces were featured, and all were honored to be a part of the festivities. An important history lesson was taught and all had an amazing time during this one-of-a-kind event.

Students lined the hallways at Oak Park Elementary dressed as their favorite representative of Black History. While some chose to do more conventional African American celebrities and athletes, others chose to go more local.

One student decided to pay homage to former Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and absolutely nailed it. The pictures below are all from the event that day, and the students absolutely understood the assignment!

It is great to live in a place where these values are being passed down to younger kids, so that they can understand the struggles of those that came before them.

Below, you can see several locals featured including a Dallas Cowboy, local educators, historical figures, and more! The kids and staff really poured their hearts in to this celebration of history.
