On February 22nd, 2023, Shreveport Police Community Response Units were investigating complaints of narcotics and firearm activity in the 1900 block of Legardy Street. Officers located Bakari Means (12/23/85) and later found that he was in possession of a firearm.

Through further investigation, Means was determined to be a convicted felon from prior arrests for burglary and narcotics. On February 26th, 2023, Means was charged with one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm, one count of possession of schedule two with intent to distribute, one count of possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, one count of possession of schedule one, and one count of obstruction of justice.

The firearm and narcotics were seized by the officers.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
