Looks like folks in Shreveport will have a new place to stay cool this Summer.

This new waterpark couldn't have possibly come at a better time, as we enter what's supposed to be the hottest week of the year. We all need to get creative to find ways to stay cool this week, and Shreveport's new waterpark might be the perfect solution.

Granted, there are some downsides to this newly-opened waterpark. For one, there's only one attraction as of right now, so expect a little wait-time to get in on the action. Also, it's not necessarily the safest waterpark in town. No, Splash Kingdom clearly wins in the safety category, considering the new waterpark's location.

Also, after visiting the new waterpark during its first day of operation, I can tell you it's even smaller than it appears on photos and videos. I don't think it's a good waterpark for the entire family, it might be better as a quick solo getaway for hot Shreveport residents.

This brand new waterpark does have upside, a few perks, if you will. For starters, this new attraction in Shreveport won't break the bank. In fact, it won't cost you a dime. Admission into this Hearne Ave waterpark is absolutely free, if you can find parking. It's a slip-and-slider's dream, if you don't mind a few scrapes and scratches.

If you're not satisfied with this brand new Shreveport heat-beating attraction, I'm sure you can walk 50 feet in any direction on a rainy day and find a pool-sized pothole to stay cool in as well.
