I will never forget the one "White Christmas" I experienced in the South. It was just a very light dusting of snow in Tyler, Texas, but for it being my first Christmas in the South, it might as well have been a blizzard.

It was enough to cause my entire family to stop everything and celebrate. Because of that one magical evening, I think I will always hold out a little bit of hope for a White Christmas, even though we live in a part of the country where that is a rare gift.

Unfortunately, for 2025, it looks like whatever cute, cozy outfit you had planned for Christmas Day might need to be traded in for shorts and a tank top. It is honestly difficult to get into the holiday spirit when you are sweating while opening presents!

The Heat Is On

With Christmas Day threatening us with a high of 80 degrees, we have to acknowledge that while it’s hot, it could actually be worse. Back in 1964, Shreveport hit a staggering record high of 86 degrees. For context, our "normal" temperatures for Christmas should be a high of 58 and a low of 38.

If you’re looking for the other end of the spectrum, the coldest Christmas Shreveport ever saw was in 1983, when the high was only 20 degrees, and the low was a bone-chilling 6 degrees.

What Are the Chances of Snow?

So, what are our actual chances of a White Christmas this year? Well, they aren't looking good. To qualify as an official "White Christmas," there must be at least 1 inch of snow on the ground at 7:00 AM on Christmas morning. Believe it or not, Shreveport has never had an official White Christmas since record-keeping began in 1871. We have seen trace amounts in 2001, 2009, and 2012, but never enough to meet the official definition.

The Week Ahead According to our Chief Meteorologist, Richard Lewelling, we should expect partly cloudy skies and a very warm afternoon, sitting at about 77 degrees. And the heat isn't going anywhere once the wrapping paper is cleared away:

December 26: Forecast high of 81 (The record is 83 set in 2016).

December 27: Forecast high of 80 (The record is 82 set in 2015).

It might not be the winter wonderland we dream of, but at least we won't have to shovel the driveway!

10 Things Guys Should NEVER Say at the Deer Camp

There aren't a whole lot of rules for guys at the deer camp, but a man should always remember that his man card is on the line if he slips and says something like these things.
