Any time a negative news story pops up regarding Shreveport or Bossier City, social media users are the first to point out how much this area has changed over time and how they long for the days of old.

Truth be told, that sentiment isn't exclusive to our area. Pretty much everyone, everywhere, has a deep desire to return to the simpler days of their childhood.

Regardless of where those childhood days took place or in what era they occurred, one of the key findings in a survey regarding our memories of childhood was the discovery that over half of all people would love to relive that time.

Certainly we would love to relive those days. Who wouldn't want to go back to the days when the thing that stressed you out the most was your mom's meatloaf and having to eat those nasty brussels sprouts?

However, it wasn't the entire childhood they wanted to repeat, especially those days of puberty, algebra and acne. It was specifically the time period from the ages 7 to 10, when they consider everything was essentially "magical."

Some of the things people say they miss most were:

  • Not having to worry abut money
  • Summer breaks from school
  • Christmas
  • Always having energy
  • Not paying any bills
  • Not having to work
  • Not having aches and pains
  • Being excited about birthdays

All of these same things were highlights for those of us who grew up in Shreveport/Bossier.  There are a number of specific things here that might not mean much to others, but to us, we'd go back for them in a heartbeat.
