River City Repertory Theatre, North Louisiana's professional theatre company, will open its eleventh season and a new performance space with "Grey Gardens." The Tony Award winning musical opens October 26 at The Engine Room at Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Central Artstation in downtown Shreveport and will play through Octiber 30th.

Set in East Hampton, New York, "Grey Gardens" tells the story of Big Edie and Little Edie, the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and their journey from glamorous aristocrats in the 1940s to notorious recluses in the 1970s, living in a crumbling house filled with memories and cats. The musical, with book by Doug Wright, music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie, was nominated for ten Tony Awards in the 2007 Broadway season including Best Musical. It won for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Costume Design.

"Grey Gardens" will be the inaugural theatre production for the black box performance space in the newly renovated building at 801 Crockett, formally The Central Fire Station in Downtown Shreveport.

The River City Rep production features Heather Bryson and Ginger Folmer as Little and Big Edie. Bryson has appeared in The Rep's "A Little Night Music," "Love, Loss and What I Wore" and "It's Only A Play." She was most recently seen in Stage Center's "Next To Normal." Folmer, a veteran of local theatre, has performed major roles for all the local companies and was featured in The Rep's "Love, Loss and What I Wore." Rounding out the cast is Jonathan McVay, Ryan Williams, Bill Gallmann, Hayley Cooper, Mac Bradley, Ashley Johnson and Tatum Young.

The production is directed by Patric McWilliams, Artistic Director of The Rep, with Musical Direction by Kermit Poling, Light Design by Courtney Gaston, Video/Projection Design by Chris Lyon, Video Coordination by Blayne Weaver, Projection Photography by Melanie Parent and Set/Costume Design by McWilliams.
