Well, the first day of the FLW Forrest Wood Cup is now in the record books and Randall Tharp stood atop the heaping of incredibly talented fishermen by one whole ounce.

With a 5-fish limit weighing 18-08, he just barely squeaked past Bryan Thrift of North Carolina who brought 5 lunkers to the stage weighing 18-07.  Fishing legend Larry Nixon formerly of the Toledo Bend area, finished the day in the third place with a 5 fish limit of 13-04.  Rounding out the Top 5 were Adrian Avena with 13-02 and Mark Rose with 12-15.  Theo Corcoran of Kansas City, Missouri currently leads the Co-Angler Division with a respectable 5 fish limit weighing 14-13.

Red River truly showed how remarkable of a fishery it is today, with only 2 of the Professional Anglers failing to catch a full 5 fish limit.

The Day 2 launch tomorrow morning from 6:30 to 7:00 at Red River South Marina will include all 46 of the Pro Anglers and their co-anglers.  However, at the conclusion of Friday's weigh in, only the Top 20 will advance to Saturday's round.  And at the end of Saturday, only the Top 10 will compete for Sunday's top prize of $500,000!

Don't forget to take in part of the FLW Expo at the Shreveport Convention Center Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning at 10am each day.  And enjoy each of the remaining weigh in's at the Century Link Center with the doors opening at 4pm and weigh in beginning at 5pm each of the 3 remaining competition days.
