There's good news and GREAT news!  The good news is that 2020, which could go down as the worst year in modern history, is almost over!

The GREAT news is that before we put 2020 in the rear view mirror, Santa Claus is coming!  In spite of all the bad news that kept unfolding this year, the great news is that there is still a kindred spirit and a sense of compassion and giving here in the Shreveport area and when you couple those qualities together, you get Operation Santa Claus.

The effort by the Shreveport Fire Department, the Shreveport Police Department and all six local radio stations owned by Townsquare Media, set out on a collective venture each year.  And that's to make sure that no child goes without a gift from Santa Claus for Christmas.

For decades now, this group has hit the streets of Shreveport and Bossier City to gather new, unwrapped toys for those who are less fortunate at this time of year, and then members of the SPD and SFD actually hand deliver those gifts just days before Christmas.

Of course, we could never make this happen with the compassionate and giving hearts of all our listeners.  And we're ready to get the party started.  In fact, Operation Santa Claus 2020 will begin on Monday, November 30 at 10:30 am with a huge shopping spree at Walmart!

After that, we'll hit the streets on several occasions asking you to drop off your new, unwrapped toys or monetary donations for these local kids. Below are those dates and locations:

  • Dec 1st – 7-9am Brookshires on Mansfield Rd
  • Dec 3rd – 7-9am Brookshires on North Market
  • Dec 5th – 9am-noon Dunkin Donuts Parking Lot at Youree & Pierremont
  • Dec 8th – 7-9am Brookshires on Line Ave
  • Dec 10th – 7-9am Brookshires on Hwy 80 in Haughton
  • Dec 17th – Downtown Christmas Run – 7-9pm

You can also drop off those toys at any location of Citizen's National Bank or some other locations that we'll mention in the coming weeks!

Keep up with all that's going on with Operation Santa Claus on any of our radio stations including: Kiss Country 93.7, K-945, 96.5 KVKI, 710 KEEL, The Highway 98.9 or AM 1130 The Tiger or you can go to the Operation Santa Claus Facebook page.
