New research is out from Wallethub that shows Shreveport's City Government performs better on a national level than local perception would suggest.

Wallethub has release their 2019 list of the Best and Worst Run Cities in America. It's a list of the 150 largest cities in the United States, paired against one another using Wallethub's statistical analysis to rank them.

Shreveport lands at #112 on the list, ahead of cities like New Orleans, Washington DC, Hartford, Los Angles, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Syracuse, Pittsgurgh, Buffalo, and Denver.

The two major rankings Wallethub used were "Quality of City Services" and "Total Budget per Capita". From the website, the methodology used for for these, they say:

"We constructed a “Quality of Services” score made up of 37 metrics grouped into six service categories, which we then measured against the city’s per-capita budget. Read on for our findings, expert insight and a full description of our methodology."

A breakdown of Shreveport's rankings list shows the city performing better than expected in some areas, but near the bottom in others. While the city does not perform in the Top-100 for any singular rating, performing in the Top 125 is probably higher than many locals would expect. Here's the breakdown:

Financial Stability Rank: 137
Education Rank: 112
Health Rank: 137
Safety Rank: 138
Economy Rank: 146
Infrastructure & Pollution Rank: 112
