New Orleans made national headlines today by this surprising announcement.

Even with LaToya Cantrell at the helm, I didn't see this coming. Yet, it's here, Louisiana's first city to require proof of a vaccine or negative test in order to gain entry into any indoor event or activity.

You read that correctly, ANY indoor event or activity. If you was to go to one of the many wonderful bars and restaurants New Orleans has to offer, you must show your vaccination card or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test.

I'm sure you're already thinking about one of the major reasons most of us travel down to New Orleans, especially over the next few months.... New Orleans Saints games. In order to attend a New Orleans Saints game this season at the newly-named Caesars Superdome, you must show your vaccination card or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test.

New Orleans is one of the first cities in the country to announce a measure like this. The other two, so far, have been New York City and San Francisco. New York City requires proof of at least one vaccination shot, while San Francisco will require proof of a full vaccination. Los Angeles is rumored to be announcing a similar mandate in the near future.

It hasn't been made clear yet which way New Orleans plans to go, but if I was a betting man, I would place all bets on New Orleans demanding a full vaccination. Once that decision is made and announced, I will update this article.

This measure in new Orleans will officially go into effect on Monday, August 16th.

With the numbers still on the rise in Louisiana, is this a sign of things to come elsewhere in the state? I guess we'll have to wait to find out.
