New Food Program Helping Feed Bossier High School Students
Renee Hall is being hailed a hero by several people in our community. Hall was helping feed football players at Bossier High School every Friday during football season and realized that a lot of the students were asking for multiple to-go plates. That's when it hit her, so many students go home hungry during the weekend. So Hall decided to do something about it.
Many students in Bossier depend on the school they attend for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Leaders in Bossier Parish are teaming up to make sure that no student goes hungry when they go home for the weekend. Hall and leaders at Bossier High School started the Bearkat Angels Club.
According to KTBS 3 Hall prepares the home-cooked meals on Thursday and shows up to Bossier High School with the delicious meals on Friday. The part that made my heart melt is that Hall makes sure that every student gets enough meals to give to their siblings.
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Renee Hall, but if you know her, please thank her for me. She is a beautiful soul who truly has a heart of gold and knows the importance of a home-cooked meal, not just for the body but for the mind as well.
The Bearkat Angels Club is needing donations to keep the meals coming. The average cost of food per week is $200 if you can help checks can be made to Bearkat Angels Club, 482 Merritt Road, Benton, La. 71006. You can also make a donation in person at any Citizens National Bank branch or at the Bossier High School office.
