More Gun Violence in Minden Leaves One Injured
Gunshots rang out Tuesday night (7/27/21) in Minden. Minden Police Department received a call from Minden Medical Center yesterday saying they had a gunshot victim in the ER.
When MPD arrived to investigate they found that the victim was a young black male who had been shot multiple times. After questioning MPD found that the young man had been shot on MLK Drive in Minden. No further information has been released and the matter is still being investigated. The Minden Police are certainly frustrated with the recent surge of gun violence. The following was posted on the Minden Police Association Facebook page:
"As others try and minimize the recent surge in gun related incidents in Minden, officers on the street know just how dangerous the situation is. Gunfire and drug crimes have doubled in the last two years. Also, aggravated crimes and batteries/assaults have increased drastically in the last two years. Officers who patrol the streets are understaffed and underpaid. They are tired from working multiple hours of overtime. They work well beyond their required time because they care about the community.
Prayers to the victim in this senseless shooting. Prayers that the community will step up and report these vicious crimes. Prayers to our officers who patrol the street every day and night."

Here's a sample of the legendary musical acts who have played Shreveport's Memorial Coliseum over the last 60 years. The Hirsch was basically the homefield for bands like Van Halen and ZZ Top, who regularly put the Hirsch near the top of their tours. For that reason, we're actually not going to feature them on this list, because they were basically "house bands" for Shreveport...and that's NOT a bad thing.
