
Three Days Of Fun As Minden Marks 190th Anniversary Next Week
Minden, Louisiana is prepping for one its biggest parties in centuries!

From next Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13, Minden will celebrate Minden's 190th Anniversary and America's 250th Birthday!
Then fun begins June 11 with Bites and Beats at Miller Quarters Park. The event boasts great food, live music, and community vibes. Totally free to attend and welcome to all ages. Bring your lawn chairs and your appetite.
Friday, June 12 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, events include the opening ceremonies for Minden's 190th Anniversary with performances by local schools, a cornhole tournament and the Little Grillers Competition. It's also the start of Grilling On Main, a non-sanctioned BBQ competition where Pitmasters go head-to-head cooking brisket, ribs, chicken, and create their own signature dish for the People’s Choice category. Teams will fire up their smokers on-site and compete for cash prizes, awards, and the coveted Grand Champion belt. The public will be allowed to sample all entries for only $10 on Saturday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
The biggest day of the festivities is Saturday, June 13 and includes a full slate of events including:
- From 8:00 am to 10:00 am it's Run Minden on Main, a community patriotic-themed 5K race
- From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, it's the Miss Minden St. Jude Pageant for girls aged 3 to 13
- America's 250th Birthday Celebration will begin at 1:00 pm with live music, the Kids Patriotic Parade and the Celebrity Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest
- From 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, it's the 8th Annual Greater Minden Chamber Duck Derby Extravaganza when thousands of rubber ducks will race towards the finish line with the owner of the first place finishing duck winning a whopping $1,000. Second place is worth $500 and the third place finisher is worth $250 cash.
- Then, at 9:00 pm, it's the huge Fireworks Finale
