While Jefferson was a vital Confederate supply and served as a critical port for shipping supplies and manufacturing materials for the Confederacy, it was never attacked or involved in a physical, armed conflict during the Civil War. But, that little fact won't stop the city from celebrating the annual Civil War reenactment event known as "The Battle for Jefferson."

Next Friday through Sunday, May 1 through May 3, Jefferson will turn back the clock to the 1860's and again celebrate this annual "what-if" scenario, depicting how life "could have been" had Jefferson indeed been attacked.

Make plans to enjoy all the festivities in Jefferson as two epic Civil War reenactment battles are staged at Cypress River Ranch on the Big Cypress Bayou. Civil War historians from all over will gather to stage these battles complete with cannon fire, infantry and cavalry. Additionally, attendees will be treated to pyrotechnics for special effects.

Along with the reenactments, visitors will be treated to so much more including period sutlers, a pilgrimage parade and town skirmish, the Muskets and Magnolias Grand Ball, and church services on Sunday.

Of course there will also be a wealth of vendors, displays, live music, and while food vendors will not be available on site, visitors are encouraged to enjoy any of Jefferson's many restaurants after the activities.
