In a story originally reported by KPHO CBS 5, an Arizona company is pioneering new technology that in the very near future, could be replace the common Band Aid for the U.S. Military. Vomaris is the medical company developing the new "wonder bandage" called "Procellera" and according to CEO Michael Nagel, it might just be the next generation of battlefield wound dressings.

Procellera is a woven polyester sheet infused with 200 biocompatible micro-cell batteries per square inch. It works by utilizing the microcurrents to help healthy cells duplicate and regenerate. Additionally, those microcurrents keep bacteria from being able to infect an open wound.

The United States Army has put up a million dollar research grant to bring Procellera to the Army Ranger training base in Fort Benning, GA and plans are to conduct a study of eighty rangers to guage the effective healing power of Procellera against the Army's current treatments for cuts, scrapes, bruises and blisters.

Those small wounds sideline more soldiers than gunshots or explosives. Research has shown that the Procellera treatment method heals injuries 45 percent faster than typical treatments. See the entire story from CBS 5 below.
