I have been on top of the Empire State Building. It was pretty high and I remember someone telling me that you will get arrested if you spit off the top. I was 16 years old and absolutely fell in love with New York City.

I can’t think of a more iconic building than the Empire State Building. Anyone who sees a picture of it automatically thinks of America or at the least New York. So when I heard that someone was going to turn it pink. I was torn because a pink building would be kinda cool but a pink Empire State Building? Wouldn't that be kinda like painting the Abraham Lincoln Memorial green?

But then I found out that is country music’s Martina Mcbride, who is set to turn on the pink lights at the Empire State Building October 14th during the “Martina Mcbride: Light Up the Sky” benefit in partnership with the Stanford Women’s Cancer Center.

 

It is just one of the events that country music stars are participating in to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The event is three days after her album “Eleven” is released, which includes the song “I’m Gonna Love You Through it.” which is Based on the story of a breast cancer survivor, the song and video features real life cancer survivors and some big name supporters including Sheryl Crow,Katie Couric and more.

The video for the song was shot just outside of Nashville and features the celebrities alongside local survivors, each giving testimonial for the video about how cancer affected their lives.
