It's not unusual for the highly popular sports and lifestyle website, Barstool Sports, to take an unpopular stand. But one of Barstool's writers has earned himself a spot in Louisiana's Hall of Shame by bashing former New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton less than a day after announcing his retirement from the game.

Barstool's Steven Cheah wasted no time in hammering the winningest coach in Saints history, calling Payton "the most overrated coach of all time." In fact, Cheah seems not only obsessed with hammering the future Hall of Famer's coaching skills, but immediately goes low, questioning Payton's ethics in his very his sentence:

"Sean Payton announced he was stepping away from the game today in a long game to eventually weasel out of his contract with the New Orleans Saints."

But he's just building up his anti-Payton steam, stating that the ex-coach's career isn't even deserving of HOF mention:

"I was hearing some chatter he is a Hall of Fame worthy Coach and had to tell some people to pump the brakes. I find it hard to believe a guy with sustained regular season success, that had an elite QB by his side his entire career except this past season is Hall of Fame worthy."

And then, in what Who Dat Nation will consider the greatest insult of all, Cheah compares Payton to Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy:

"...Sean Payton hasn't won more than a single playoff game since 2009, the year the Saints won the Super Bowl. I ran the numbers, and Payton actually compares pretty much exactly to the current Dallas Cowboys Head Coach, Mike McCarthy who has the reputation of a terrible coach."

And then Cheah wraps it all up by saying that not only did Drew Brees make Payton's career, but that the coach was actually a detriment to the future Hall of Fame QB:

"The truth is, Payton was fortunate the Dolphins medical staff didn't pass Drew Brees and Brees landed on the Saints the same off-season Payton did. He simply did not get the most out of Drew Brees and went on to win one Championship despite 14 incredible years from an all-time great at the Quarterback position. So while the Saints are losing a pretty good coach, they're also losing a guy who has underachieved for the last decade plus and maybe they'll be better for it."

So, Steven Cheah aside, does anybody really think that the Saints franchise will be better off without the man with 152 career wins plus one more in the biggest game of all? Nobody in Louisiana, that's for sure.
