LSU-Shreveport Gets New Digital Media Program Thanks to Huge Grant
If its true that the future holds many jobs in digital media for the picking, then students at LSU-Shreveport will benefit from a new program in digital technology.
The program will offer a certificate in the career areas of animation, visual effects, interactive gaming and visualization for medical and military applications.
Chancellor Vincent J. Marsala thanked the Caddo Commission for making the program possible with the donation of a $500,000 grant.
The course will require 35 hours per week, but students must be screened and tested through a one-month training program. The highest performing student will be offered scholarships for the 11-month course. Tuition for the program is about $12,000.
Industry professionals will teach the classes. The program is open to adult students with a high school diploma or GED. Caddo Parish residents who qualify and successfully complete the vetting module will be eligible for tuition-based scholarships provided by the Caddo Parish Commission.
