When an LSU Health student reaches their fourth year, they are presented with an envelope containing where they will be serving their residency training. That is the place where they will, in essence, become a doctor of medicine. This week, the newest class of hopeful students will find out their fate! It's called Match Day, and it's a very exciting time for the students and their families.

LSU Health sends this invitation:

Match Day is one of LSU Health Shreveport’s biggest days of the year but for 112 medical students, it’ll be one of the biggest days of their lives. As they open an envelope in front of hundreds of curious onlookers, the students will announce one at a time where they are headed for residency training. The momentous day will take place on Friday, March 18 at 11 am in the BRI Atrium.

The ceremony will be streamed live on the LSU Health Shreveport YouTube Channel at: youtube.com/LSUHSCShreveport.

Match Day ceremonies will happen at the same time nationwide. The process is coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). LSU Health Shreveport will also learn on March 18 which 130 medical students will be entering residency programs here.
