Louisiana will still have the highest sales taxes in the nation even though lawmakers voted to keep .45 of the one penny sales tax that is set to roll off the books on July 1st.

As you can see in the following chart, Louisiana's sales tax rate has been at 9.98%, but it will now drop to 9.53%. This will keep the Bayou State ahead of Tennessee which has a sales tax rate of 9.46% and is 2nd highest in the country.
