Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Bound For Poinsettia Bowl

Louisiana Tech will face No. 15 TCU in the 2011 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, announced Sunday by bowl officials. The match-up features one of only a few,  pairing two conference champions among the 35 bowl games this year.

The Horned Frogs (10-2, 7-0) recently won its third consecutive Mountain West Conference championship, the only team to achieve such a feat in the short history of that league.

Louisiana Tech will kickoff against TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

TCU is ranked as high as 15^th in the coaches poll and 16^th in the Associated Press poll while Louisiana Tech (8-4, 6-1 WAC) is receiving votes for the second consecutive week.

Despite being separated by only 289 miles, the two schools have never met on the gridiron. Instead, LA Tech will face TCU for the first time 1,610 miles away in San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium.
