Louisiana Paraglider Crashes Into Tree, Has to Be Rescued by Fire Department

Who goes paragliding on a random Tuesday in south Louisiana when it's like 115 degrees outside? Well, the guy we're about to tell you about.

The Central Fire Department responded to a motorized paraglider who crashed into a treetop last night around 9:00 pm. The incident happened in the 15000 block of Hooper Road in Central (located in East Baton Rouge Parish).

The pilot is actually the one who called 911! He was on the phone with them when emergency crews arrived.

Oh, and he was up about 50 feet up in the tree in the woods.

It took crews about 30 minutes to locate the crash site though while getting directions from 911 operators.

The Central Fire Department was assisted by East Side Fire Department who responded with a ladder truck and Zachary Fire Department who helped with a drone. The Central Police Department also assisted.

Thankfully, the pilot was rescued and transported to a local hospital.

The Central Fire Department told Baton Rouge television station WBRZ that the man was not injured in the crash.
