I was recently reminded by Takemefishing.org that very soon America's favorite past time, fishing, will be absolutely free to enjoy for an entire weekend, and that weekend is just over a week from now.

What that means, is that, regardless of which state you might live, here in Louisiana, or you're from out of state, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries allows all to fish the incredible waters of our state for absolutely no charge with no license requirements.

According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries,

“Each year, we designate a weekend of free fishing as an incentive for families and friends to get outside and enjoy our beautiful Sportsman’s Paradise.”

“Whether your interest is saltwater or fresh, Louisiana offers some of the best and most diverse fishing opportunities in the world, and we welcome you to become part of the long-standing tradition of Louisiana fishing.”

While a fishing license is not required, all fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions will remain in effect during Free Fishing Weekend.

The LDWF also reminds us that when we do purchase our fishing licenses, we help Louisiana to provide funding for public fishing and boating access, fishing programs and education, and fisheries management through the Sport Fish Restoration Fund.

However, you need to remember that after June 9, in order to legally fish in the Bayou State, you'll need to purchase your license, which can simply be done online HERE at louisianaoutdoors.com
