Local Business Wants To Help Young Entrepreneurs
A local business wants to fuel a young entrepreneur with a plan. The manager of Discount Jewelry and Loan Edward Best said "We want to help young adults who have a plan and want to make something of themselves. Sometimes all you need is a little help, and that's where we come in. It's a chance for them to take advantage of an opportunity and make something happen for themselves".
Discount Jewelry and Loan took to their Facebook page to encourage parents to tell their kids about a unique opportunity. "We have decided its time we showcased some of our young people in the Shreveport community. So if you have aspirations of owning your own business then this is the contest for you! We want to award one awesome young person ages 12-16 that wants to start their own lawn service this summer! The winner will receive lawn equipment to get their business started and business cards to advertise their services!" All your kid has to do is provide a business plan (they can google how to put one of these together), show how the business will grow over time, and a 250 essay. The contest kicked off on March 27th and comes to an end on April 30th.
May 1st the top 3 entrepreneurs are picked and then it's interview time. "The winner will be chosen by our city councilman James Flourry, our Caddo Parish Commissioner Mario Chavez, and our Store Manager Edward Best. We are doing this to encourage our young people that owning your own business is rewarding. Small businesses make up a large portion of the employers in this country and the next generation will be a huge part of that....only if we show them what hard work means!"
