Lane Of Major Bossier Highway Closed For Next 60 Days
And just like that, traffic in Bossier City got a brand new wrinkle that will take the next couple of months to iron out.

In an announcement late Wednesday evening, July 10, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development issued notice to all motorists that effective immediately the northbound inside (left) lane of US 71 (Barksdale Blvd.) will be closed from Riverbend Drive to Golden Meadows Drive in Bossier City.
The DOTD goes on to say that this lane closure is necessary to allow the City of Bossier’s contractor to construct a new left turn lane located in the 5400 block of Barksdale Blvd.
This lane closure is anticipated to be in place for approximately 60 days.
All work will be done weather permitting, so inclement weather could postpone, lengthen or modify in other forms the expected amount of time for this project.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
