Mardi Gras season is in full swing now and this Saturday will feature another huge parade when the Krewe Of Gemini rolls away from downtown Shreveport.

This year's theme is "Throw Me A Memory Mister" and the parade route will be identical to last year's. Rain or shine the Krewe of Gemini parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Clyde Fant Parkway and Lake Street.

It will head south on Clyde Fant where it will turn and head west on Shreveport-Barksdale Highway, and continue to East Kings Highway where it will again turn south and continue to Preston.

The parade ends just before Preston where the "Parade End" sign is located.  Floats will stop throwing at this point.

Other "No Throw Zones" will be clearly marked along parade route. Those zones are the sharp "S" turn, under the railroad tracks on Clyde Fant Parkway and all bridges on Clyde Fant Parkway.

Remember, all intersections are also "No Throw Zones" so don't stand in these locations, but rather, between them.

For some of the "better" locations, you'll either want to arrive early Saturday and tailgate or contact the City of Shreveport now.  They will again lease spots along E. Kings Highway. These spots are first come, first served and sell out quickly so don't wait long.  (Contact SPAR - Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation -- http://www.myspar.org/ )

Be aware, that just as with Krewe Of Centaur, the City of Shreveport will close the streets around 3:00 p.m. so make plans to arrive early or plan to walk a bit.

And lastly, if you and the family are looking to avoid alcohol consumption, take advantage of the family-friendly, alcohol-free zone. This is along Clyde Fant Parkway, from the old railroad trestle, north to Stoner Ave. You may contact the City for more info. You can get to this area by driving down Stoner Ave, where it intersects with Clyde Fant Parkway.
