Kix Brooks is halfway through his solo album work and is headed to Arizona in May to begin shooting 'The Last Ride'.

Just in case you wondered if Kix was sitting all lonely at the house missing Ronnie Dunn. . here is something to cheer you up.

Kix Brooks says he is about halfway through his solo project, but don't hold your breath for the release, Mr. Brooks is spreading himself  across music and movie endeavors these days.

He is already done filming for his small role in the soon to be released 'Thriftstore Cowboy' (which was also filmed in Arizona). In 'Thrifstore Cowboy' Kix portrayed a villain, hopefully he harnessed  some of what he learned as a Theater Major at Louisiana Tech, because I cannot imagine him easily morphing his bubbly personality into that of a villain.

AOL's The Boot spoke with Kix about his upcoming movie role in 'Thriftstore Cowboy':
“It’s an independent film, kind of a small film,” the Louisiana native adds. “William Shockley’s producing it and acting in it. He was in ‘Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,’ if you remember him. And one of my favorites — Barry Corbin — is in it too, a great old Western actor. I’m a little excited to be hooking up with him. We’ve done a little cutting horse action together, but I never dreamed I’d be acting with him, so that’s cool. And Tanya Clarke is the female lead, and she was in ‘A Beautiful Mind’ with Russell Crowe. She’s really cool. So, everybody’s an actor, except for me. It should be interesting. [laughs]“

Kix Brooks will be taking a lead role in 'The Last Ride', set to begin filming in May.
