Kisha Newsom Named This Weeks Caught in the Act Award Winner
This morning was a complete first for us. The back story to this one was something like we had never seen before.

As we reviewed the nomination letter that Kristy McDow submitted for Kisha Newsom, we couldn't believe what we were reading. Sure, we've seen nominations for people that pour their lives into helping others. We've seen letters pointing out how selfless another person can be. We get letters from daughters about their Dads, husbands for their wives, even step children about their step parents, but never had we seen something like this.
It was the nomination for the mother of another woman's step-child. Yes, a nomination for the ex-wife of a guy from another woman who ultimately also became that guy's ex-wife.
That certainly broke the mold, but when you see just how amazing Kisha Newsom has been to Kristy, you'll see just how easy it was to name her this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.
I met Kisha in 2019 when I met and married her ex-husband and became the step-mom to her amazing son Clark. Little did I know she would quite literally save my life and help me escape the clutches of the pure evil I was up against in 2023. She has walked beside me, guided me and has become my sister and best friend. Together today, we still raise and co-parent our sweet boy and she allows me to spend as much time as I want with him which is such a blessing. Our story is not a common one, but it is our own and it’s been known to turn a few heads. On top of our story of survival, she is a beacon for other women who are in the same situation as we were with our ex-husband. Just by looking at her, you’d never know the extreme amount of loss and adversity she has had to overcome. Her brute strength and power overcomes all else. She is a voice for the voiceless, a defender for the defenseless, and a fighter for the ones who feel like they have no fight left. Kisha also has a heart for our youth. Her job allows her to go out into the community and find companies who also have a heart for youth and help them get work experience that will be valuable as they get older so they can be set up for success. There is so much that I can say about Kisha but I often feel as if words cannot express the gratitude and love I have for her for all she does and has done for me and others in our community. To know her is to love her.
Kisha Newsom, because you've been 'Caught in the Act', the gang at the Magnolia Pit have a $50 gift certificate for you to come enjoy a great meal!
Take a listen to the phone call we made to Kisha to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
