Kimberly Perry has been dodging questions about her “alleged” boyfriend for the past few months. There was speculation that she was seeing Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia, but there was never any confirmation. That all changed Monday when the singer said yes to the baseball player who got down on bended knee.

J.P. had heard that Kimberly’s dream was to get engaged under the giant oak tree in the family's front yard in Greeneville, Tennessee. That’s exactly where he was waiting for her Monday evening. She told The Tennessean, "I saw that and I thought, 'This is really happening.'"

Her mother got into it, too. She sent Kimberly back into the house to put on a pink dress she had hoped to wear for the occasion. There was also a letter from the family, a diamond ring and a bracelet that her grandfather and given her grandmother.

Kimberly said, "I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather's bracelet. I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect. I've never felt that with anyone before. He's just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure."

The newly-engaged couple is planning to make it official sometime next summer.
