New Texas Law Bans All THC Products – Completely
The Texas war on marijuana continues as the state senate passes a bill banning all THC products across the board, no matter what percentage of THC they have.
The lone star state just took another huge step backwards as far as legal marijuana goes by passing SB-3 - initiating a complete ban on any and all products containing THC.
Texas law had allowed hemp products to contain up to 0.3% THC.
Sure, there are peeps selling products that contain more than that and the industry as a whole should be closely monitored and regulated. I get that and an alternative law calling for stricter oversight as opposed to the ban is being considered.
That's good to hear, banning all THC content is too much. Especially when full on, 100% THC loaded marijuana is legal ... in some manner ... all over the country.
Only 11 states have no form of legal ganja whatsoever. According to KHOU, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said: “This is a poison in our public, and we as a Legislature — our No. 1 responsibility is life and death issues". "Poison"? "Life and death"? Over dramatize much Lt??
That "poison", being legally distributed in one way or another in 39 states, is clearly not worthy of being deemed a "life and death" matter. 55 million Americans are tokin' and I can't think of one reported marijuana death. In fact, the CDC doesn't even have a category for pot related deaths.
Meanwhile, states that aren't stuck in the 50's, are making $$ faster than they can count it. For example:
- New Mexico - $53,594,444
- Arizona - $289,879,253
- California - $1,089,898,823 (fool.com)
Based on population, and the amount of Texas dollars flowing into New Mexico, I'd say Texas would be looking at California money - quite possibly more. See how the other states are doing here.
