Fisherman Hauls in Catch That Looks Like an Alien Fish From Another World
For Louisiana, the Gulf is a major source for our biggest industries. It can also be a pretty mysterious and sometimes nightmarish body of water when it comes to the creatures lurking in its waters.
With an estimated 80% of the ocean left unexplored, there are absolutely creatures swimming around that only our wildest imaginations could think of.
Case in point, a fisherman recently hauled in a fish that looks like an alien from another world.
Actually, it looks a lot like Megamind.

Fisherman Catches Creature That Looks Like An Alien
A deepsea fisherman has recently caught a fish that looks like something out of our most terrifying nightmares.
Its purple, bulbous body looks like a giant brain, and this creature comes equipped with a human-like face.
Caught in the Pacific Ocean, fisherman Roman Fedortsov posted a video of his creepy catch, and it has quickly gone viral.
From dailymail.co.uk -
"Deep sea fisherman Fedortsov has previously made headlines thanks to other weird and wonderful catches.
One was compared to a Dr Seuss character, found with organs hanging out of its mouth.
Fedortsov also discovered other sea creatures which look strikingly similar to a cheeseburger and a juicy jam doughnut."
OK, so all of that is cool and all, but still, we need to know what this creature is.

What Is The Aptocyclus Ventricosus Fish?
Fedortsovhas identified the alien creature as an Aptocyclus ventricosus fish.
The Aptocyclus ventricosus is also known as the smooth lumpfish or smooth lumpsucker, and they are indeed found in the Pacific Ocean.
Good. The farther away the better.
From Wikipedia.com -
"They look brownish gray with dark spots dorsally, muddy gray ventrally. They have naked skin without scales and tubercles.
A smooth lumpfish has no dorsal spines or anal spines, eight to nine dorsal soft rays, and seven to nine anal soft rays."
As you can see, in the picture above from Wikipedia, the fish looks a little less Alien-like. Not much, but a little less nightmare inducing.
The smooth lumpfish in the video appears to be a bigger fish than the one above, and appears to have some swelling going on due to the pressure change of being brought to the surface.
Have you ever seen a fish quite like this?
Should we start the rice, or no?
