Shreveport Fire Department Battle Vacant House Fire
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 2:46 AM, the Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) received a 911 call reporting a house on fire in the 2500 block of Quinton Street. Engine 8 arrived on scene within five (5) minutes and reported the one-story residential structure was fully involved in fire.
It took the efforts of twenty-three (23) firefighters operating nine (9) units to bring the fire under control at 3:05 AM. No injuries to citizens or firefighters were reported. The house suffered extensive damage. The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The house was reported to be vacant, unsecured, and did not have any connected utilities. However, based on witness statements, investigators cannot eliminate the possibility of unauthorized individuals gaining access to the inside the structure. For the safety of the public and first responders, owners or caretakers of vacant structures must ensure all entry points are locked, barricaded, or otherwise secured to prevent unauthorized access.
