
Shreveport Man Pleads Guilty to Assault With a Firearm
A Shreveport man charged with firing shots at a family's car plead guilty in Caddo District Court earlier this week.
29 year-old Kelvin Higgins, was suppose to go to trial, but before the proceedings began on Monday, Higgins pleaded guilty as charged to aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated criminal property damage.
Back in 2023 Patrol Officers with the Shreveport Police Department were called to Stoner Avenue to a shots fired call. Video footage from the Real Time Crime Cameras showed a car speeding away while Higgins fired five shots at it, with two adults and a small child were inside.
From the Caddo DA:
"For both crimes Higgins was sentenced to 10 years at hard labor with credit for time served.
Higgins was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Fernando Grider Jr. He was defended by Dave Knadler."
