It's been over a year since Louisiana executed an inmate on death row at the Angola State Penitentiary. Jessie Hoffman Jr. was executed on March 18, 2025. The state changed the method of execution to nitrogen gas from lethal injection.
Hoffman was convicted of the 1996 murder of Molly Elliot. Prior to his execution, Louisiana had not carried out a death sentence since 2010. The Governor has pledged to carry out more executions.
