See the List of All Inmates on Louisiana Death Row

It's been over a year since Louisiana executed an inmate on death row at the Angola State Penitentiary. Jessie Hoffman Jr. was executed on March 18, 2025. The state changed the method of execution to nitrogen gas from lethal injection.

Hoffman was convicted of the 1996 murder of Molly Elliot. Prior to his execution, Louisiana had not carried out a death sentence since 2010. The Governor has pledged to carry out more executions.

When we fail to abide by our promises and our contractual obligations to victims out there, how can we go around and say that we have any credibility on anything else that we do?

Following a 15-year pause due to lethal injection drug shortages and litigation, Louisiana moved forward with nitrogen hypoxia and the electric chair is also an option.

Louisiana has more than 50 inmates on death row. All but one of them are men. The only woman is Antoinette Frank. The former New Orleans police officer was convicted of a 1995 triple murder, including a fellow officer and two restaurant owners during a robbery.

What Parishes Have the Most Inmates on Death Row?

When you look at the list of inmates on death row, you will find that Caddo Parish leads the state with 13 men on death row. Many of these cases date back to the 1980's. East Baton Rouge is 2nd on the list with 9 inmates on death row and Jefferson Parish is 3rd with 4 death row inmates.
