Shreveport has been my home for more than 40 years. I have great memories about so many places in this community. I moved here from Baton Rouge in 1984 and found this an incredible town to work and raise a family. But it also has so many special places that hold many memories for me.

CHECK OUT WHAT FOLKS THINK IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FACING SHREVEPORT

One of my most favorite is the American Rose Center. This is such a charming and beautiful attraction that many locals don't even realize is here. My favorite time at the rose center is in May or June when the roses are in full bloom. But I also love it at Christmas time when it is all lit up for the holidays. This is a jewel in our community.

But there are several things we had in Shreveport several years ago that are no longer here. We did an informal survey to find out what businesses you miss the most and we got a wide variety of answers.

What Shreveport Business Did Not Make Our List

I was surprised to find that no one listed Water Town or Splash Kingdom. Maybe it's too soon since it shut down for good for folks to realize it's gone. This list also does not include restaurants. We are working on that list too and there are dozens of restaurants we want back.

What Businesses in Shreveport Are Missed the Most?

It's no surprise that Western Electric and AT&T and the General Motors Plant are in the top five. I was a little surprised that Hamels Park was number one of the list. More people miss that family fun spot than anything else.

Here Are the Top 5 (In Order):

  • Hamels Amusement Park

  • Western Electric / AT&T

  • Stein Mart

  • GM Plant

  • The Louisiana Boardwalk

Check out our list and let us know what's missing. Which ones are in your top 5?
