Disastrous deep-freezes seem to have been striking the Shreveport and Bossier City areas with alarming regularity over the last few years. Between massive snow storms and catastrophic deep-freezes, the city has experienced a lot over the last few years.

Serious sub-freezing temps struck Shreveport in 2021, while the city was already dealing with the ongoing pandemic. The 2021 storm brought snow and slippery roads that shut down much of the city. Then in 2022 an artic blast once again tore across the state of Louisiana, bursting pipes and wreaking havoc.

Could we be on the verge of seeing 2024 become another wintery nightmare? Some forecast models suggest it might happen soon.

A recent viral post has caught a lot of attention across the Southern United States, as it suggests a Polar Vortex may dip back into the region, and bring single-digit temps back to the Ark-La-Tex.

This particular model has been called into question by plenty of people online, including other Meteorologists. But even if they think its unlikely, they can't completely rule this model out. Which is what has been echoed by others online.

A pretty good breakdown of what is causing this forecast can be found right here:

Essentially, there will be a Polar Vortex that will be pushing really cold weather into the United States. It will bring some heavy snow to the northern states from the Midwest to the East Coast, but looks like it will dip into the southern states too. The big question is how far south, and how cold.

While those specifics aren't clear yet, the threat of another Polar Vortex event is real right now. We're just not sure if Shreveport and Bossier will be in it's direct path yet.
