Bossier Sheriff’s Office Held Drone Classes for Law Enforcement

Bossier Sheriff’s Office Drone Team Leader teaches other Law Enforcement Officers about Drone Operations. Corporal Bryan Sprankle, head of the Bossier Sheriff’s UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) unit, recently spent a week teaching law enforcement officers from three outside agencies drone operations at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy.

Law officers from the Shreveport Police Department, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Minden Police Department took part in the intense training so they can better serve their communities through the use of drones and their immense capabilities.

The training consisted of basics of drone operations, FAA rules and regulations pertaining to drone operations, and state laws pertaining to conducting drone operations. The class is held every Spring and Fall at the Training Academy and is free of charge to surrounding agencies.

“The benefit of the use of drones by the Bossier Sheriff’s Office has been immeasurable,” said Sheriff Whittington. “From search and rescue of missing or endangered people to SWAT operations, drones have proven to be invaluable tools and we are proud to offer this training to other agencies,” added Sheriff Whittington.
