Of course, to that end, we have to endure the lengthy construction periods and the associated traffic issues that pop up.

And the latest is one we all had to know would come; we just didn't know that it would start tonight.

In the most recent notification from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that beginning tonight, Wednesday, November 13, the I-20 eastbound off-ramp at Airline Drive (LA 3105) in Bossier City will be closed.

This ramp closure is scheduled to take place over the course of five nights from approximately 9:00 pm to 5:00 am each night, and is necessary to allow for construction activities to take place as part of the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project.

Even though this is only a night closure, it's still for Bossier City's most used exit ramp from I-20, so it will certainly cause many to rethink travel routes.

As a reminder, the project is currently in the process of transitioning into Phase 3 (final phase), with ongoing traffic shifts occurring in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Traffic is being shifted onto the newly constructed inside travel lanes so demolition and removal of the old outside lanes can begin.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
