You might recall last summer we had several areas, especially on I-220 West near Jefferson-Paige, the concrete buckled due to the extreme heat.

Thankfully, DOTD quickly responded, even though one of the blow-ups near the Jefferson-Paige exit could still use a little attention, the problems were addressed and removed most of the danger to drivers.

Again this year, the heat is causing similar issues in the Shreveport area, and a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises drivers they'll have to close lanes to address the issues.

According to the notice from DOTD, this coming Tuesday, June 23, from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, the outside (right lane) of I-49 southbound at the LA 526 (Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) interchange will be closed.

DOTD will also address concrete "blow ups" on the LA 3132 eastbound and westbound ramps to I-49 southbound and will force the closure of those ramps during the same time period.

Additionally, the left lane of the southbound off-ramp to Bert Kouns will be closed. The exit ramp will remain open to traffic (closure of left lane only).

Thankfully, these closures are for this one day only, but DOTD assures they will address any other buckling issues as they arise.

These will be total ramp closures at the specified locations. All vehicles will need to utilize alternate routes.

Motorists traveling on LA 3132 westbound will detour to US 171 (Mansfield Rd). Motorists traveling on LA 3132 eastbound will detour to LA 526 (Bert Kouns).

Of course, this work will be performed "Weather Permitting" so inclement weather could delay/extend the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
