The logistics of construction on or around one of the heaviest travelled interstates in America must be the stuff nightmares are made of.

The sheer thought involved would stagger people of lesser ability, but somehow the DOTD gets the job done.

Such is the case with current road construction in Webster Parish. There are construction time variables, peak travel times and weather issues to consider, yet, to have a new overpass, there have got to be times for lanes, if not all of I-20, to come to a screeching halt.

And though, not like this past week's total closure of I-20, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has just issued notice that this coming Wednesday, October 16th and Thursday, October 17, the outside (right) lane of I-20 westbound at the LA 532 interchange in Webster Parish will be closed.

This lane closure is scheduled to take place from approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm each day and is necessary to allow DOTD crews to remove and replace a cross drain pipe at this location.

Cross drain pipes allow water to move from one side of the road to the other without crossing the surface and creating a flooding issue.

Of course, the work will be performed "Weather Permitting" so inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter the scheduled work days/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.

Call 511, visit www.511la.org, or download the Louisiana 511 mobile app for additional information. Out-of-state travelers may call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).

The 8 Louisiana Kids Who Have Disappeared Since August 1, 2024

Please take a close look at these eight innocent faces and if you happen to recognize one, immediately call 911 and report it. You never know how great the impact of your call might make to a child being held against their will.
