Thursday night was a little above average for Louisiana's Hunter Hayes.  He was just named the CMA's "New Artist of the Year." Probably a tad better than most Thursdays, wouldn't you think? A six-pound crystal trophy will sit atop his trophy case for the rest of his life and he's not even old enough to buy a beer in his home state as of yet.  What most people don't know is that he's certainly no "overnight sensation." We've watched this young man grow up.

Spending his childhood in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, he was only four-years old when Hank Williams, Jr. brought him on stage and introduced him to the world.  He's come to Shreveport's Festival Plaza several times and played various festivals and yet only during this year has the world come to know him.

As he first launched his national career, he knew he had to stop by Kiss Country in Shreveport to secure a stranglehold in his home state.  And that he has certainly done.  With his "Wanted" going to number one on the record charts, his CMA Award and a great concert schedule, he's certainly letting the world know just who Hunter Hayes is!

Here's the video of his acoustic performance of his recently released single "Somebody's Heartbreak" that he did in the Kiss Country studio! It'll be easy to see why the CMA had an easy decision to make on the award! Congrats Hunter! Oh, and Geaux Tigers...beat 'Bama!!!
