Traffic in the Haughton area will likely be even more congested this weekend.  Many wouldn't believe it could get any crazier, but this weekend could test our limits.

With the current resurfacing of US 80 in the Haughton area traffic has tested the patience of many motorists, but for many much closer to the Haughton city limits, the LA 3227/LA 157 Realignment Project has been the biggest burr under their saddles.

The good news about that one, is that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is still running on schedule and anticipates the project completion in early 2026, so the area is truly only months away from major relief.

However, there are still many hurdles to jump between now and completion and one of those will take place this weekend.  In a notice from the DOTD, we learn that beginning this Friday, August 22, 2025 at approximately 8:00 am, the I-20 eastbound off-ramp (left lane) to LA 157 northbound near the Town of Haughton in Bossier Parish will be closed for roadway pavement repairs related to the ongoing LA 3227/LA 157 realignment project at the nearby intersection.

And it will remain closed for basically the entire weekend as it's not expected to reopen until approximately 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 24.

Drivers need to take note that this affects only the left lane to LA 157 northbound.  The off-ramp itself will remain open, along with the right lane to LA 157 southbound. The LA 157 overpass over I-20 will also remain open.
