Shreveport firefighters were called to a fire at Trinity Heights Baptist Church on Old Mooringsport Road just after 11pm Friday night. Electricians were working at the church and found a problem with a recessed light fixture in the ceiling of the sanctuary.

Crews on the scene reported smoke coming from the roof of the sanctuary.  Battalion Chief K. Frazier, requested a second alarm as a precautionary measure to have additional manpower and resources available as needed. Flames extended through the roof of the sanctuary.

It took 28 firefighters about 40 minutes to get the blaze under control. No one was hurt. Investigators believe this was an accident.
