We're down to the nitty gritty if you're a duck hunter in Northwest Louisiana as the 2015-16 Duck Season will come to a screeching halt at sunset on January 24.

I'm not much of a duck hunter myself (I stick pretty much to deer hunting) but my 2 oldest sons are duck freaks and their opinions of this year's season pretty much echo the sentiments I'm seeing all over the Ducks Unlimited site ducks.org.

Pretty much it's a mixed bag of reports, but for the most part, hunters in the area complain that our season should be started a week or two later and extended the same amount of time on the end of the season as ducks just now appear to be showing up.

Here's a few examples of what I've found:

So, if comments like this are ever looked at by Wildlife and Fisheries officials, maybe this could be considered for next season?

However, with the rain coming mid-week this week and somewhat cooler temps, maybe you can salvage what's left of this season with a couple of good mornings.

Good luck and stay safe!
