March is Women’s History Month and all month the city of Bossier City along with the Commission for Women of Bossier City and several great sponsors are honoring and striving to inspire our local ladies with several events at little or no cost.  Take a look at just what all is going on!

March 1 – March 31:  Health & Fitness Challenge with Fit Nation at Heart of Bossier Center, 1701 Old Minden Road, Bossier City, LA.

Fit Nation of Bossier City is offering a month of free classes, free fitness assessments, nutrition tips, a plank challenge with prize money available!

March 11 – (TODAY) – 5:30pm-7:00pm:  Finance Panel at Courtyard Marriot at Louisiana Boardwalk.  For only $10, ladies will enjoy a panel of local female professionals who will briefly discuss their specific areas of financial assistance, the needs they address for their clients, and details all should be thinking about in order to create a well-rounded financial picture today and for the future.  Light food and beverages will be served.

March 14 – (FRIDAY) – 11:30-1:00:  “The Entrepre-Woman” at Joe Cobb Bossier Bar-B-Que, 203 McCormick Street, Bossier City, LA 71111.

Support, encourage, give tips and ask questions as women gather together with other female business leaders while supporting a great local establishment and long-tenured female business owner, Mrs. Sue Cobb.

March 19 – (WEDNESDAY) – 11:30 – 1:00: Annual Inspiring Women Luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn at 2015 Old Minden Road, Bossier City, LA 71111

For a charge of only $25, women will be honored with speaker Jinny Henson.  Jinny is a native Houstonian, a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Seminary where she met her husband, John, Pastor of Church for the Highlands, in Shreveport, LA.  Jinny is a published author whose devotional appears in The One Year Bible Devotional Book on August 19th and has a published a chapter in the women’s devotional book, The Groovy Chicks Road Trip to Love.  She is a member of The Nashville Speaker’s Bureau and has taught Communications at Dallas Baptist University.  Jinny has traveled the country entertaining audiences doing standup comedy for over 15 years.  Most recently, Jinny and her husband John are co-authors of a beautiful story of God's redemption in Smyth & Helwys'  Maggie Lee for Good available on Amazon.com.  The theme verse of her life, John 10:10 states, "The enemy has come to steal, kill and to destroy but I have come to bring you abundant life."  Space is limited.  Reserve your tickets today by calling Lindsey at 453.9285 or email to Lindsey_Nickerson@ml.com

The group will be accepting donations of new socks and underwear for boys & girls sizes 6-16 for Maggie Lee’s Closet – where kindness is always in fashion.

March 21 – (FRIDAY) – 5:00pm-7:00pm:  Dress for Success at Bossier Council on Aging, 706 Bearkat Dr, Bossier City, LA 71111.

This free event is presented by Susan Noland of Dress for Success Shreveport-Bossier.

Come out and learn the many ways women can boost their career success with subtle rules for their wardrobe.  Susan also discusses ways to deter sexual harassment in the workplace; it is eye-opening to understand a woman's wardrobe from the male perspective.

March 26 – (WEDNESDAY) – 5:00pm-7:00pm:  WINE, WOMEN & Paintbrushes at the Bossier Arts Council at 630 Barksdale Boulevard, Bossier City, LA 71111.

Admission for this one is only $30 and provides another great girls’ night opportunity – tell your friends!  Don’t worry about leaving with a nice piece of artwork – Bossier Art Council pencils in your image, so you can’t go wrong!  Reserve your space today – this event will sell out quickly!

March 29 – (SATURDAY)  9:00am-10:30am:  FAMILY CRAFT DAY at the Bossier Central Library at 2206 Beckett Street, Bossier City, LA 71111.

Admission for this is absolutely free.  Miss Jessica is putting together a fun, family craft geared for ages 6-12.  * Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the event.  Space is limited.

March 31 – (MONDAY) – 5:30pm-8:00pm:  Relaxing Evening at Oasis Salon & Spa at 4727 Viking Drive, Bossier City, LA.

Another free event, Leigh and her staff are excited to open up on Monday to offer free services and refreshments to honor and pamper our Bossier ladies.  Reservations are suggested for pampering; service times will fill up quickly!

*All proceeds raised during the Inspiring Women series will be donated to the Northwest Louisiana chapter of Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
