The Krewe of Gemini is the oldest practicing Mardi Gras krewe in all of Northwest Louisiana and to celebrate their 30th anniversary this year, they wanted to make sure the grand marshal was someone that everyone could celebrate.  And they could not have a made a better selection than Dr. Donald Mack!

Dr. Mack will reign over the Krewe of Gemini's “Gemini’s World Adventure” 30-year anniversary parade on March 2, beginning at 4:00 pm on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport.

Families all over the area who have ever received the devastating news that their child was suffering from some type of cancer, have probably had the privilege of getting to know Dr. Mack.  Though retired now, after 50 years in practice, Dr. Mack, as a prominent pediatric physician in Shreveport, has likely referred more children to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, than any other doctor in the nation.

Most don't know that Dr. Mack had the ability to treat these patients himself and could have received payment from the parents of these kids and their insurance companies for his service.  But because of his spirit and love for these children, Dr. Mack would actually send these kids to St. Jude where they would receive the absolute best care in the world and at no charge.  That's the type of man he is!

His dedication to St. Jude was unparalleled as he not only was the first doctor to ever send an out-of-state patient to St. Jude's, but he was also the founder of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway that has helped to raise more than $400 million for the hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The parade is March 2, beginning at 4 p.m. on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport.

Make plans to show up and possibly catch some Mardi Gras beads or swag from one of the greatest doctors to ever grace our area - Dr. Donald Mack!
