Traffic Alert: Southbound Clyde Fant Parkway to Close Monday
The Louisiana Department of Transportation has announced that a project previously scheduled to have begun a couple of weeks ago, has been rescheduled to begin this coming Monday, September 22 and will affect Shreveport traffic.

In the notice from the DOTD, the closure of the southbound lanes of Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport at the Jimmie Davis Bridge (LA 511) overpass will begin Monday and will be in place for approximately two weeks.
This closure has been deemed necessary to allow the contractor for the ongoing $360 million Jimmie Davis Bridge replacement project to perform roadway repairs on Clyde Fant Parkway.
The northbound lanes of Clyde Fant Parkway will remain open, as well as the on-ramp to LA 511 (E. 70th St) westbound, and the Jimmie Davis Bridge itself. The ramp to LA 511 eastbound will be closed as part of these repairs.
DOTD notes for all drivers that this closure is for the southbound lanes only and that all needed detour signage will be in place. Northbound lanes will remain open.

Of course, as with any project of this kind, work will be done "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
