In an effort to save some cheese, Chuck E. Cheese has decided to close 34 locations.

This article pains me to write, as I grew up inside Chuck E. Cheese. Like many of you who also grew up in Shreveport-Bossier in the 90s, I can't possibly tell you how many birthdays and special gatherings I spent inside Chuck E. Cheese in Bossier as a kid. I think I even spent 4-5 of my own birthdays inside the arcade.

Also, I've gone on record saying I believe Chuck E. Cheese offers a top-3 pizza in Shreveport-Bossier.

It's nice these days as well, to see my daughters love Chuck E. Cheese as much as I did growing up. Although, I will say the magic is lost for the adult who has to spend $60 for my children to win enough tickets to buy a couple of Tootsie Rolls, but it's magic for them and that's all that counts.

This week, Chuck E. Cheese announced that they will be closing 34 locations nationwide. Luckily, at least for now, we won't be losing our Chuck E. Cheese location in Bossier.

Of the 34 locations, all of which were open prior to COVID-19, none of them are located in Louisiana.

CEC Entertainment, the parent company of Chuck E. Cheese, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection a couple of weeks ago. Shortly after, they announced their plans to close locations which were hit hardest by COVID-19.

At this time, it doesn't appear that CEC Entertainment plans to close any more locations. Of course, if that changes, we will let you know.
